Singapore Management University
School of Law
Singapore Management University's (SMU) School of Law was set up in August 2007 with the mission to build a collegial team of excellent researchers and teachers and to nurture lawyers who will lead and serve the community with distinction. Our programmes (currently comprising a 4-year LLB programme and a postgraduate Juris Doctor programme) aim to produce holistic graduates who understand law in context, and who are able to think across disciplines and geographical borders. Interactive seminar-style teaching is employed to create a learning environment that is dynamic and challenging.
Applications are invited for academic positions focusing on the following areas:
In SMU, there are three categories of faculty - Standing Faculty (a tenured / tenure-track appointment where sustained scholarly research is a requirement), Practice Faculty (a renewable term appointment requiring substantial practical expertise) and Education Faculty (a renewable term appointment for those with experience in teaching and pedagogical research). Candidates may indicate their interest in any one of these tracks. Appointments at different levels (assistant professor, associate professor and professor) as commensurate with the candidates' experience will also be considered.
Candidates should have excellent undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications. Applicants for tenured positions should have a proven record of high-quality research. Candidates who have recently completed the LLB (or equivalent) or postgraduate law programmes will be considered for appointment as lecturers or assistant professors. Familiarity with the common law legal system is desirable.
